We don’t have customers with dementia!
“We don’t need to think about dementia because our customers are younger!”, “We don’t deal with the public, so we don’t need to think about dementia” so many companies we work with initially say the same thing.
Dementia can impact people at any age, so just because your client base is younger it doesn’t mean they will not be affected. Many customers of any age will be touched by dementia directly and will remember how inclusive your organisation is, for years to come.
Then there is your staff. Around 21% of your staff (Carers UK) will be a carer at some point in their career, where is your provision for them? How do you support them? Or do you just hope they don’t leave?
So many carers we talk to do just that with no support. Leave their job, taking their knowledge, experience and often passion with them.
